THE COUNTDOWN IS ON
Experience the spectacle of over 55 themed scarecrows, lovingly crafted and displayed by the local residents. Grab a programme at the village pond and embark on the scarecrow trail as you crack the clues and match them to the scarecrows.
Kids can join in the fun with a special quiz featuring picture clues at each stop. Prizes await the sharpest sleuths, and there's even a lucky programme draw. Don't miss the chance to cast your vote for the Best Scarecrow.

Embark on the scarecrow trail through the charming Urchfont village as you unravel clues. Little ones can join in the fun with a Children's Quiz featuring picture clues to decode at each scarecrow spot.
Enjoy mouthwatering, locally crafted burgers and sausages, indulge in delectable homemade cakes and a refreshing cup of tea, or satisfy your thirst with locally brewed real ales and ciders at the village pond.
The Festival committee and the Urchfont Parish community work together to create scarecrows, bake cakes, oversee parking, cook on the barbecue, serve drinks, and more.
All profits generated are dedicated to supporting good causes in the Parish of Urchfont, and a substantial annual contribution is also made to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Some weird and wonderful facts about scarecrows to whet your appetite.
Scarecrows were originally made to do what their name suggests: scare off crows and other birds that might ruin farmers' crops.
The very first scarecrows in recorded history were made to save farmers' crops about 3,000 years ago.
They were first made by the Egyptians to protect their wheat fields, especially along the River Nile.
Birds are also scared off because how scarecrows look AND the scent of humans that linger from the clothes of a scarecrow.
After The Great Plague, the population was so low that farmers made scarecrows to put in their fields.
The most famous scarecrow is the fictional character in The Wizard of Oz who is in search of a brain.
Because he was outstanding in his field.
A corny one.
