URCHFONT SCARECROW MAKERS
If you have a penchant for mixing straw with style, then why not join the 'Font's prestigious league of scarecrow makers for the upcoming festival?
FESTIVAL MAKERS
Do you live in Urchfont Parish and fancy becoming a scarecrow maker for the upcoming festival? Get ready to show those crows who’s boss.
Every scarecrow participating in the event must be showcased along the main scarecrow trail route. However, this doesn't restrict residents from other parts of the Parish from joining as creators, as scarecrows can be placed along the trail.
OVERVIEW FOR SCARECROW MAKERS
FESTIVAL DATES
The 2026 Urchfont Scarecrow Festival will take place during the May bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 2nd of May to Monday 4th of May.
SCARECROW TRAIL
Scarecrows are displayed along the trail. They should be positioned close to the pavement so visitors don't have to access your property.
YOUR SCARECROW
Makers are provided the secret theme and what their scarecrow should embody, with the aim of helping visitors decipher the clue within the program.
DISPLAYING SCARECROWS
Scarecrows must be in position by 9 am on the first day of the festival, with the signs provided in place, ready for visitors to start the trail from 9.30 am.
SCARECROW MAKING
We encourage makers to be as eco-friendly and to embrace the spirit of scarecrows by incorporating straw into their design.
THE FESTIVAL THEME

The theme is top secret. We let makers know in January when we allocate scarecrows, but ask that the mystery is maintained until the day of the festival.
SCARECROW MAKER FORM
Our goal is to involve everyone in Urchfont Parish in the festival, and that includes you!
If you're interested in creating a scarecrow for the next Urchfont Scarecrow Festival, simply reach out to us, and we'll try to allocate a slot for your creation along the trail.
Please keep in mind that we have a limited number of spots available, so we may not be able to accommodate all applicants if we receive a large number of requests.
